After conducting interviews with couple of Facility Mangers, I got to know that the actual application is too technical and not that intuitive to change the temperature or quickly turn off the lights.
Facility manager needs a solution where they can quickly change the temperature and monitor the energy consumption. As they are not going to spend more than 15min in a day on this solution.
The solution requires specialized knowledge to navigate through numerous pages before reaching the correct location to control the equipment.
Switching between multiple sites as a facility involves excessive navigation, making simple tasks unnecessarily time-consuming.
The solution lacks single sign-on functionality, making it difficult to seamlessly navigate across various applications after logging in.
Users prefer a simplified interface that allows them to quickly turn equipment or lights on and off. They also want the flexibility to configure the page by adding or removing equipment as needed.
Before initiating any work, I make it a priority to develop a clear mental model of the system. This helps ensure a shared understanding of the feature set and required functionality among all stakeholders.
Even when not explicitly requested, I take ownership of aligning everyone involved. Achieving consensus is essential, as I hold myself accountable for the final outcome.
